Select the stress grade and seasoning of the deck joist timber.
Joist Spacing
Centre-to-centre spacing between deck joists. Select the column equal to or just exceeding your actual spacing.
Span Condition
Single span = joist supported at two ends only. Continuous span = joist runs over three or more supports.

Table 50 Notes

  1. Maximum joist span is based on supporting a maximum decking mass of 20 kg/m².
  2. Cantilevers shall not exceed 30% of the actual backspan.
  3. Joist sizes may support decks more than 1000 mm above ground. For joists supporting decks up to 1000 mm above ground, refer to Table 6.
  4. Minimum bearing length = 50 mm at end supports and 100 mm at internal supports for continuous members.
  5. For design parameters refer to Figure 4.9.
