Notes (AS 1684.2 Tables 38 & 39):

i) Maximum floor area supported is based on a maximum flooring plus ceiling mass of 40 kg/m².

ii) Floor area supported = (A × B)/4 where A = span of upper floor bearer and B = total of joist spans (see Figure 6.13(b)).

iii) Where studs supporting concentrations of load occur in external walls, their size shall be the greater of this table or the common external stud size.

iv) Table 38 = not notched studs; Table 39 = studs notched to 20 mm depth.

v) Large stud sizes may be nail-laminated vertically as per Clause 2.4.

vi) Wind classification N1/N2 only.
