Tables 23 & 24 — Hanging & Counter Beams

Table 23 — Hanging Beams supporting ceiling loads (max 12 kg/m²).

CLW = x/2, where x = total of ceiling joist spans either side of the hanging beam.

Roof loads shall not be strutted onto hanging beams. Minimum bearing = 70 mm at end supports.

Where ceiling joist spans are not the same each side, use the average of the spans.

Spans are independent of wind classification.

Table 24 — Counter Beams supporting ceiling loads (max 12 kg/m²). Mass of ceiling joists and hanging beams is included in span calculations.

Multiple members shall be nailed together per Clause 2.3. Minimum bearing = 70 mm at end supports.
