Tables 17 & 18 Notes

  1. Maximum lintel spans are based on a maximum total sheet roof mass of 40 kg/m² (Table 17) or tile roof mass of 90 kg/m² (Table 18), including framing and ceiling. For guidance refer to Appendix A.
  2. For lintels supporting concentrated loads refer to Table 20.
  3. Lintels to internal wall openings supporting ceiling joist only shall be sized as hanging beams.
  4. Lintels in gable or skillion end walls not supporting roof loads shall be determined per Clause 6.3.6.3.
  5. Minimum bearing length = 35 mm at end supports. Values shown as (+Xmm brg) require additional bearing beyond the 35 mm minimum.
